I usually go to PureGym locations in Downtown Brooklyn and Park Slope, and they’re clean, modern, and overall a great experience. Unfortunately, this location was completely different and honestly shocking.

The women’s locker room smelled terrible, there was trash and used paper towels all over the floor and counters, and there wasn’t even soap available to wash hands. The equipment and locker room also felt very old and poorly maintained compared to other locations.

I attached photos because this wasn’t just “a bad day” level messy. For a gym chain that’s usually much better, this location seriously needs attention, cleaning, and maintenance.

Absolutely terrible experience with PureGym/Blink.

I ended up spending over $400 in only about 5 months between monthly payments, annual fees, cancellation fees, and even collections. At one point they already sent me to collections and I had to pay around $120 just to resolve it.

The customer support is awful. There is basically no real support inside the gym, and online support is email-only. They take forever to respond and often just send automated payment links instead of actually helping.

The gym itself often smells bad, especially like sweaty socks, and there are barely any employees around who can actually assist members.

The biggest issue is how they handle memberships and contracts. They advertise cheap monthly prices, but they do not clearly explain:

the 12-month contract commitment,

the annual maintenance fee,

or the fact that cancelling early requires paying a $62 buyout fee.

A lot of younger people and students sign up without fully understanding what they are agreeing to because these important details are buried in fine print and checkbox agreements.

Even after I paid the cancellation fee, their system kept asking me to pay again.

This has honestly been one of the most frustrating gym membership experiences I’ve ever had.

It was a very easy check-in self-explanatory how to get upstairs and get inside. All I would say is to provide more cleaning wipes and sanitary wipes throughout the gym and also have spray or something for the bathroom because it was a bit musty in there however the overall experience is good and I will recommend people.

I’ve been going to this gym for over a year, and I’d like to ask you to please pay attention to the cleanliness of the women’s bathroom. It’s often dirty, and there is usually paper on the floor because none of the toilet paper holders/dispensers are working, so people end up placing it on the handle and it falls off. It would be great if this could be fixed and the area cleaned more regularly.

The gym has doors that are like shuttle circle gyms which is a waste they don’t even work and is taking up space. The gym is cold and it’s cold outside and they won’t turn up the heat which is inconvenient to my help as I pay to be here. The equipment has layers of dust and oils and the mats and rollers are worn out to the point pieces are missing. I don’t understand the change from bankruptcy  because the membership is more and than it was for blink and they only promote two memberships and the green allows guest but they have to make an account just to be a guest and the maintenance fee is $60 t for the year the membership is $39 and your guest can go only 4 times a month as for blink they can come unlimited with you! And they only offer 50% off on your first session with a personal trainer as before with blink you get a free first session then $25 not starting price $50 so I guess you really have to be dedicated to go to the gym because it’s very pricey right now!
