Albury, NSW Supercharger

Quick stop at the Tesla Supercharger Albury ⚡🔋Easy access, clean setup and plenty of charging bays available 🤩

This is a well-located, easy-to-find charging site, especially convenient for travellers passing through the region.

Charger Type & Access:
* Newer-generation Tesla Superchargers with long cables, so charging port position is not an issue.
* Works comfortably for vehicles with ports on any side.
* Open to both Tesla and non-Tesla (CCS-compatible) vehicles.

Charging Speed & Performance:
* Designed for high-speed charging, but performance during my visit was not optimal.
* The site was very busy, and charging speeds were slower than expected, possibly due to load sharing.
* Experienced a rare glitch where charging stopped and the system prompted me to unplug and reconnect.
* Charging resumed after reconnecting, but at a reduced speed.

Reliability:
* This was the first issue I have experienced in years of using Tesla Superchargers.
* Issue was easily resolved, but worth noting during peak times.

Parking & Layout:
* Located on Level 1 of a car park, making it fully covered. No exposure to sun or rain.
* Bays are easy to access and well spaced.
* Clear signage from the entrance makes it very easy to locate the chargers.

Shade & Comfort:
* Fully covered parking, which is a major advantage over outdoor sites.

Amenities:
* Two bins available near the charging bays, which is very convenient.

Cellular Network Coverage:
•	Both Telstra and Optus had good signal, ensuring smooth app connectivity.

Food & Shops:
* Being centrally located, there are likely shops and eateries nearby, though I did not explore them during this visit.

Overall Experience:
* A well-marked, easy-to-access site with the added benefit of covered parking.
* Busy conditions may impact charging speed, but overall functionality remains solid.

Overall, a modern and convenient Supercharger location with excellent accessibility and weather protection. Minor performance issues during peak load aside, it remains a dependable stop for EV travellers.

🛑 Holiday Warning: Massive Delays at this Supercharger
If you are traveling during peak holiday periods, avoid this station. We experienced a total disaster: a 90-minute wait just to plug in, followed by disappointing charging speeds.
The Issues:
• Congestion: The station was completely overrun. During peak times, the mix of Teslas and other EVs (which often charge much slower) creates a massive backlog.
• Throttled Power: Even after the long wait, the charger couldn't deliver—dropping well below the expected 125kW. This is likely due to "site sharing," where the local grid or the Supercharger cabinet splits power between multiple stalls when the station is at 100% capacity.
• Slow-Charging Vehicles: While the network is opening up, having vehicles that can't pull high speeds occupies stalls for much longer, making the "Tesla-only" days feel like a distant luxury.
Verdict: If it’s a long weekend or school holidays, plan your stops elsewhere or ensure you have enough range to bypass this site. The current setup simply cannot handle the holiday surge.

Super convenient place and access. Unfortunately I keep finding an anti-EV sentiment in the country. Lots of chargers taken up with ICE cars on purpose when there are free parks elsewhere. Can’t help the yokels unfortunately.

Pretty good, usually don't have to wait, despite some folks in ICE cars taking bays. For first-time visitors, the bays are on level 1, go up the ramp.
