Atkins, VA Supercharger

The charger works well but the location lacks in terms of food. The gas station next door and hotel both have good bathrooms

Easy access. First charger was bent. It’s slow and oldish but in rural VA where it’s needed. The walk to the gas station is through the 18 wheeler parking lot. Not recommended for after dark or rainy days as you have to hike

Great super charger location. The hotel has restroom and a microwave to heat food and an area to seat and eat. Also great stop if you want to sit and do some work outside of your car.

Atkins VA Tesla Supercharger. ✅

Located in Comfort Inn parking lot, slower charging less than 150kwh
At first attempt, the left stall closest to curb stop charging after a while, so have to move to another spot. The last attempt successfully charged.
The only restrooms available are inside the Comfort Inn Hotel and Circle K in walking distance through grass path or at Exxon gas station that across the road.

Update 79/2023: my car said 2A is out of service. Not sure which stall is 2A since none are marked. However, when I attempted to charge at the one farthest from the street I received Station out of service message in my car. I moved to the station closest to the street and charged successfully. While charging I watched another vehicle pull up and attempt to charge at the same station and they had to move as well.

Other than that issue the stop is still nice. The parking lot is great for walking laps.

No issues charging. Quick walk to Circle K down a short grass path or an Exxon across a two-lane road.

I see some other reviews here that are negative. Here is my experience.

1. It’s right off the highway and is the upgraded 250KW chargers. This is a big deal.

2. There is no “big hill”, it’s a pathway directly behind the chargers through the parking lot of the truck stop. This is pretty standard setup overall. I’ve driven from California to New York on super chargers and this one was by no means a supercharger stop to avoid.

3. Yes the “amenities” aren’t the same as others but this is a small town that gets highway traffic and it otherwise overlooked. Perhaps in time some upgrades will be done given the Tesla investment in infrastructure.

4. The hills of VA surrounding this stop are beautiful. Stretch your legs, breath in the fresh air and try to find the good things in life. There will always be a reason to complain, a sustainable future shouldn’t be one of them.
