I used to treat the American Dream Mall Tesla Supercharger like my personal pit stop—pull in, plug in, enjoy the old 30-minute free parking grace period, and feel like I had discovered a life hack.

Then… they cut it to 15 minutes.

That was my sign from the universe: “It’s time to move on.”

So instead of trying to beat the clock like I’m on a game show, I went ahead and installed a 240V outlet at home, which, honestly, turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve made. Funny how this place accidentally pushed me into charging independence.

And just when I thought the story was over, they raised charging rates with cherry on top a $5 parking fee. So now it’s like:

•	Pay to park
•	Pay premium charging rates
•	Pay emotionally for your past optimism

At this point, charging here feels less like fueling a car and more like entering a luxury experience… which, to be fair, matches the mall. You’re surrounded by high-end stores, and apparently, the chargers wanted to join that lifestyle too.

But here’s the part that really completes the “luxury” vibe: the parking area is often dirty, there aren’t proper garbage cans, and with no nearby restrooms, the whole place can get… let’s just say, aromatic. Nothing like paying premium prices while holding your breath.

I don’t use this location anymore unless I absolutely have to go to the mall but if you’ve ever wondered what it feels like to charge your car like it’s wearing designer brands… in a slightly questionable smelling parking lot, this is the place.

But for the customers of the mall I guess it’s a plus now they can easily find a charging spot.

Somewhere, Elon Musk is smiling… probably calculating the next upgrade: “$10 parking + fragrance fee.”

The chargers were fine but it was incredibly difficult to find the entrance to the parking garage they were in, went in and out a wrong one right next to the correct one quickly enough that I didn’t have to pay for that garage.  I had to drive all the way around to finally find the entrance I needed.  And $6 to park for 30 minutes.  It would not have been so bad if I could have found fast food but the mall itself was large and so we gave up.

Tesla Supercharger Station – Lot D, American Dream Mall

The Tesla Supercharger station in Lot D at American Dream Mall is an absolute game-changer for EV owners. Public restrooms are conveniently nearby, which adds to the overall comfort and convenience.

One of the best features is the flexibility to charge any EV, not just Teslas, making it accessible for all electric vehicle drivers. The rates are impressively low—as little as $0.27/kWh before 11 AM—which is a fantastic bonus.

Whether you’re popping in for a quick shopping trip or spending the day exploring the mall, this charging station combines efficiency, affordability, and convenience. Highly recommended for anyone visiting American Dream with an EV!

The abundance of chargers here is incredible! Parking is surprisingly affordable at just $5 before tax. However, there’s one crucial detail that I can’t overlook. I had FSD guiding me here, and the battery preconditioned on the way. But instead of directing me towards the chargers, it took me to the very top level. Workers in tracked skid-steers were diligently clearing snow off the top level. One of them approached me, and boasting a very distinct New Jersey accent, informed me that the top level was closed. I had mentioned that I was being directed up here, specifically looking for the chargers. He kindly pointed out that they were located on the bottom floor, on the other side of the garage. Grateful for his assistance, I headed back down, and to my delight, there were the Superchargers! However, navigating through the garage was akin to traversing an endless cornfield maze. It was incredibly confusing!

I don’t plan to use the American Dream Tesla Supercharger again. The parking garage is very confusing, the Supercharger is hard to find, and getting out is a hassle. The $5 parking fee just to enter makes the whole experience even worse
