Mansfield, UK Supercharger

Quick and easy to use. Toilets open even when shops closed. When toilets being cleaned someone very friendly and helpfully directed us to an alternative.

Test drove a Tesla 3 and Model Y from the charger site. The test drives were painless. Do it yourself job. Afterwards, called Tesla number and was asked to put a car on charge. Never used a charger before. Simple. The whole thing is seamless... From booking test drive, to getting into the car, driving, dropping off and putting on charge.  Ignoring the elephant in the room called Musk... Tesla really do have the whole systems approach down as a slick, seamless, easy to use, easy to learn process. Can't help but wonder why then would they ignore basic usability on UK roads and remove the indicator stalk from the new model 3.

Anyway, back to the charging site... the charging experience was great. Loads of chargers. And the outlet shopping centre is right there. Recommend.

Open to all, not just Tesla's as of writing, seems like a very busy charging spot, have been twice on different trips, first time during the week, managed to get a charge but only 2 spots available when we arrived and was full when we left. Second time, admittedly on a Saturday was completely full with a person waiting, so ended up at an Instavolt over the road, but had to stop for food anyway, price is a lot cheaper at the Tesla charger though, it's a shame they don't have 2 to 3 times more chargers.

The Tesla chargers at the East Midlands Designer Outlet are an absolute EV win.

First up, the price. 40p per kWh. That is roughly half the cost of many motorway chargers and feels borderline rebellious in the current charging landscape. The chargers are fast, reliable, and actually work, which already puts them ahead of most public charging experiences.

Yes, you do need the Tesla app if you are not driving a Tesla. Download it, add your card, press a few buttons, and that is it. No drama, no calling a helpline, no standing in the rain questioning your life choices.

The real magic here is the location. Instead of a sad service station sandwich and a queue for the toilets, you get proper food, decent coffee, and the chance to wander round the outlets while your car quietly gets on with its job. It turns charging from a chore into something that almost feels planned.

This is how EV charging should be done. Fair pricing, solid chargers, and somewhere you actually want to spend half an hour. Once you have used this place, motorway service stations feel like a personal insult.

Good location - close to the motorway and part of the East Midlands Designer Outlet centre. There were also plenty of charges with many free when we arrived.

Good facilities - Toilets were clean and we timed our stop for lunch and had plenty to choose from at the food court. Probably not a great stop if it was outside the operating hours of the shopping mall.
