Washington, UK - Southbound Supercharger

Not the greatest in terms of speed charging. There was only my car in the whole charging lot and the charger was very slow. I was only getting around 30 kW/h. Initially it started off with 100 kilowatt and then dropped suddenly. I have reported this issue to Tesla.

Most reviews have been moved here from the Emerson Road, Tesla Supercharging site.  As of February 2026, the A1(M) Washington Services both Northbound and Southbound have the new style Tesla Superchargers.

Note to access you need to take the first left when entering the Northbound services, advertised for the Travellodge/lorries.  The services have not put in access to drive to the Tesla Superchargers from the main carpark.

Once charged you can drive into the main carpark but not the other way round unless you drive the wrong way through a no entry.

Be warned. You can no longer just register in reception to park. You have to pay parking even to charge. The signs are only clear once you have entered car park and been caught on their ANPR. Up to one hour is £0.70 by the time they add admin fees on the app. More if you leave the default SMS reminder on. Mobile signal flakey too just to add to the fun of trying to pay and machine to pay in reception broken. £100 fine for not paying. Avoid.

Very busy charging station, but very fast. 8 spaces full at 6.30pm on the first Sunday of half term, with a queue of 2-5 cars!
Very small turning into this hotel/accommodation site.

Well signposted just off the junction near the Washington service station (but not accessible from the service station),at the far end of the car park for the Campanile Hotel. The chargers are easily visible, but note the chargers are slightly out of synchrony with the residual car parking lines. Remember to register your car registration on the display in the hotel reception and bar. They serve a good cup of coffee too.
