What a Charge Guide is
Anyone who contributes to the Aalto map is a Charge Guide. When you rate a station, write a review, add a photo, suggest an edit, or add a station we’re missing, you help other drivers decide where to charge. Approved contributions earn points, and points move you up through ten levels.
How you earn points
Ratings and reviews both start from Write a review on a station. Stars are required and the text is optional, so submitting stars on their own counts as a rating. A written review longer than 200 characters earns a bonus on top of the review.
| Contribution | Points earned |
|---|---|
| Rating (stars only, no text) | 1 point per rating |
| Review (stars and written text) | 10 points per review |
| Review longer than 200 characters | 10 bonus points, so 20 in total |
| Photo | 5 points per photo |
| Suggested edit | 5 points per approved edit |
| Station you add | 15 points per approved station |
Photos earn points individually, so five photos earn 25 points. You can upload five photos at a time, and you can review each station once.
Not everything earns points. Reporting a problem, reporting a photo or review, saving a station, and charging don’t earn any. Reviews and photos that Aalto collects from other sources aren’t yours, so they don’t earn points either.

Your level comes from your lifetime points total.

Where to see your level
On the web, open the map, select your profile picture, then choose Your contributions. Your level sits under your name as a Charge Guide Level N badge with a bar showing how far you are from the next level. Select either one to open the full breakdown, which lists your approved reviews, ratings, photos, edits, and stations added.
In the iOS and Android apps, open Settings from the panel over the map, then tap Your contributions. The badge and progress bar are at the top and open the same breakdown.
When points appear
Every contribution is checked by a person before it goes live, and points are added at that moment, not when you submit. Until then your contribution shows as Pending review in Your contributions.
There’s no fixed turnaround, and we don’t notify you when something is approved, so check Your contributions to see where things stand. If a contribution is rejected it earns nothing, and it shows as Not approved.
Can points go down?
Points don’t expire, and they don’t decrease over time. They can go down in one case: if a contribution is removed after it was approved, the points it earned come off your total. Because your level comes from that total, losing enough points can move you back down a level.
Points aren’t money
Points and levels are recognition. Your level appears under your name on your contributions and on your public profile, where other drivers can see it. It doesn’t come with discounts, credit, or rewards, and it doesn’t change how your contributions are reviewed.
Points aren’t currency. They’re separate from your Aalto balance, they can’t be spent or transferred, and they don’t affect what you pay to charge.
